Smart Finder for Android Google Find Hub Item Tracking
Android Bluetooth Tracker That Uses the Google Find Hub Network
Product Overview
The Fresh 'n Rebel Smart Finder (MPN: 6ATAG61 v1.001) is a small Bluetooth tracker made for keeping an eye on things you do not want to lose. Attach it to your keys, bag, luggage, wallet, backpack or other belongings and use Google's Find Hub app on your Android phone or tablet to locate it.
The Smart Finder does not use GPS or have its own SIM card or mobile connection. Instead, it uses Bluetooth 5.2 and relies on the Google Find Hub network when it is away from your phone. Nearby compatible Android devices can detect the Smart Finder and help report its location to the Find Hub network.
When the Smart Finder is close enough to your own phone, you can use the app to help find it. The built-in speaker can also make a sound, which is useful when your keys or bag are somewhere nearby but you cannot see them.
How It Works & What It Relies On
Bluetooth 5.2 Connection
The Smart Finder uses Bluetooth 5.2 to communicate with nearby devices. When it is close to your Android phone, the phone can communicate with the tracker directly. Bluetooth is also used when compatible Android devices detect the Smart Finder for the Google Find Hub network.
Google Find Hub Network
When your Smart Finder is outside the Bluetooth range of your own phone, it relies on the Google Find Hub network. Other compatible Android devices can detect the Smart Finder when they come close to it and help send its location to the network. The location data is protected with end-to-end encryption.
No GPS, SIM Card or Mobile Connection
The Smart Finder does not contain GPS and does not connect directly to a mobile network. It also does not have its own internet connection. The tracker broadcasts its Bluetooth signal, while nearby Android devices provide the connection needed for the Find Hub network.
How Often Does the Location Update?
There is no fixed update interval. The Smart Finder does not continuously send its location and its position is not refreshed in real time. Fresh 'n Rebel specifically states that this is normal because the Smart Finder uses the Find Hub network.
In a busy place where many compatible Android devices pass nearby, the Smart Finder has more opportunities to be detected and its location may update more often. In a quiet street, park or other area with fewer nearby devices, the location may stay unchanged for much longer. If no compatible Android device detects the tracker, the Find Hub app can continue showing the last known location.
Improving Location Updates
For the best chance of receiving location updates, Bluetooth, Location and Internet should be enabled on the Android device. Fresh 'n Rebel also recommends enabling “With network in all areas” in the Find Hub network settings, as this can improve the chances of finding the Smart Finder in quieter areas.
Core Features
Find Lost Items
Use Google Find Hub to keep track of items such as keys, bags, luggage, wallets and other belongings. You can view the Smart Finder in the app and use the available finding functions when you need to locate it.
Built-in Speaker
The Smart Finder has a built-in speaker that produces beeping sounds to help you find the item when it is nearby.
Mark as Lost
If you cannot find your Smart Finder, you can mark it as lost through Google Find Hub. The Find Hub app can continue using the network to help locate it when compatible devices detect it.
Last Known Location
If the current location cannot be found, Google Find Hub may still show the last known location when one is available. This is useful when the tracker has moved somewhere with few or no compatible Android devices nearby.
