The Lenovo ThinkPad P16v Gen 3 brings a Core Ultra 7 255H processor, 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB NVMe SSD and NVIDIA RTX PRO 1000 Blackwell graphics with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. It is a 16-inch workstation designed for professional applications, engineering, 3D work, development, graphics and other software that benefits from dedicated workstation graphics.
The combination of 16 CPU cores, 32GB of RAM and the RTX PRO 1000 gives the P16v G3 considerably more graphics capability than a standard office ThinkPad. It also keeps the features that make the ThinkPad range practical for regular work, including a numeric keypad, TrackPoint, fingerprint reader, Ethernet, Thunderbolt 4 and a full selection of business-oriented connections.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 255H has 16 cores and 16 threads, made up of 6 performance cores, 8 efficient cores and 2 low-power efficient cores. It reaches up to 5.1GHz on the performance cores and includes 24MB of Intel Smart Cache.
The processor also includes Intel Arc 140T integrated graphics and an Intel AI Boost NPU. The dedicated NVIDIA GPU takes care of graphics work when additional GPU performance is required.
This configuration uses the NVIDIA RTX PRO 1000 Blackwell Laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. It is a professional graphics card intended for workstation applications rather than a GeForce gaming GPU.
The dedicated graphics card can be used for 3D modelling, CAD applications, engineering software, rendering, video work and other applications that can take advantage of professional NVIDIA graphics.
The laptop is equipped with 32GB of DDR5 memory. The ThinkPad P16v Gen 3 has two memory slots and supports up to 96GB, so the installed memory can be increased later if more capacity is needed.
Lenovo supports DDR5-5600 SODIMM memory as well as higher-speed CSODIMM configurations on this model. The exact memory modules installed depend on the configuration.
The installed 1TB SSD provides storage for Windows, applications, project files, documents and other data. The P16v Gen 3 has two M.2 2280 storage slots, allowing another SSD to be added without replacing the existing drive.
Lenovo supports PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD configurations on the P16v Gen 3, depending on the drive installed.
This configuration uses a 16-inch WUXGA IPS display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, anti-glare surface and 60Hz refresh rate. The specified panel provides 400 nits brightness and 45% NTSC color coverage.
The 16:10 screen gives more vertical space than a conventional 16:9 display, which is useful when working with documents, code, CAD interfaces and other applications where seeing more content on screen matters.
The P16v G3 uses a six-row ThinkPad keyboard with a dedicated numeric keypad, spill resistance and a Copilot key. The keyboard is available with LED backlighting on the applicable configuration.
The familiar TrackPoint is positioned between the keyboard keys, while the 67 x 115 mm multi-touch trackpad provides another way to navigate Windows.
The specified configuration includes a 5MP camera with IR support, privacy shutter and human presence detection. The IR camera can be used for Windows Hello facial recognition.
A fingerprint reader is integrated into the power button and uses match-on-chip technology for biometric login.
Wireless networking uses Intel Wi-Fi 7 with 2x2 connectivity and Bluetooth 5.4. The laptop also has a physical RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, which is useful when a wired network connection is preferred.
The ThinkPad P16v G3 includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports with USB Power Delivery, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, an SD Express 7.0 card reader and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combination jack.
The Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI connections can drive external displays, with Lenovo specifying support for up to four independent displays including the laptop's built-in screen.
The P16v G3 uses a 90Wh battery and supports Rapid Charge, reaching up to 80% capacity in approximately one hour with the appropriate adapter. The supplied power adapter for this configuration is a 140W USB-C GaN adapter.
Lenovo currently lists battery life as TBA for this model rather than publishing one fixed runtime figure. Actual battery life will vary considerably depending on the processor and graphics workload, display brightness and applications being used.
The P16v Gen 3 has a Black chassis with an aluminium top cover and PC-ABS lower section. It weighs approximately 2.1 kg and measures 361.5 x 248.6 x 12.8 / 19.55 mm, with a maximum thickness of 26.3 mm.
The size and weight reflect its workstation hardware, larger 16-inch screen and dedicated NVIDIA graphics.
The P16v G3 is aimed at users who need a workstation they can carry between offices, job sites and home rather than a conventional desktop PC. The Core Ultra 7 255H and RTX PRO 1000 combination is suited to engineers, architects, developers, designers, CAD users and professionals working with 3D or graphics software.
It also works well as a business computer when you need more graphics capability than a standard ThinkPad. The numeric keypad, Ethernet, Thunderbolt 4, fingerprint reader and large 16-inch display make it practical for everyday office use as well.
